Recording info: Recorded on Mick's 4-track Teac live @ Mick's living room (a.k.a. Scuzz Studio), St.Kilda-Melbourne (AU) late 1992. Produced and engineered by Mick Turner, except tracks 5,6,9 and 12 produced by Julian Wu. The majority of the tracks were recorded using a Realistic PZM microphone attached to a door, and the guitar and violin were direct input.

Line-up: Warren Ellis (violin, piano, space belt tube, african harp, mop bucket, bass), Mick Turner (guitar, bass) and Jim White (percussion, drums).

Note: Earliest recordings of Dirty Three. 83 minutes demo cassette tape, sold at early gigs/given away to get new gigs. Purpose of the recordings was for the band to be able to remember the songs. Six songs (*) were eventually reissued by the Waltham/Boston (US) label Poon Village (Forced Exposure) on the album "Sad and Dangerous" LP/CD (Nov-94/Apr-95). The six other songs are versions unique to this release. Cassette cover art by Ann Holt.

Produced and engineered by Mick Turner, except tracks 5,7 and 8 produced by Julian Wu. The majority of the tracks were recorded using a Realistic PZM microphone attached to a door, and the guitar and violin were direct input. "Devil In The Hole" recorded in 1993.

Note: Earliest recordings of Dirty Three. Several tracks (1,5-8) sourced from the self-released "Dirty Three" tape. Kristin Anderson (founder of the Poon Village label) heard the tape in Jimmy Johnson's [Forced Exposure] loungeroom, liked it and wrote a letter to Dirty Three asking to release it. Five tracks (some edited) from the tape were selected, and three more from a '93 session were added. Silk-screen cover and insert by Kristin Anderson.
